1. Inleiding

“To eat well in England you should have breakfast three times a day.”
W. Somerset Maugham (1874-1965)

In this webquest you will explore an important part of British culture: the traditional English breakfast.

An exchange student from the UK will be staying with you for a week. To make him feel at home, you want to surprise him by preparing a full English breakfast! To do so, you have to know something about it.

You will work together in pairs.
Time needed: two hours in class.

2. Opdracht

Find out as much as you can about the English breakfast. The end product will be two written reports of 100 words each, and a PowerPoint presentation that you will present in front of you classmates.

Research the history of the English breakfast. Write a short report of about 1o0 words.
Research the ingredients and preparations that make for a full English breakfast.
Compare the English breakfast to your own breakfast.
Choose five ingredients that you would use to prepare breakfast for your exchange student.
Write 100 words about what you like and dislike about the English breakfast.
Use all the information you have found to make a PowerPoint presentation of about five minutes on the topic.

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.”
